Patriot Tower

Architect:  I.M. Pei & Partners

The diamond shape 30-story Patriot Tower formerly One Dallas Centre has two V-shape cut outs or notches, one is located on the southwest side of the tower and the other on the northeast side. It has some of the characteristics of the triangular version in the other two designed by Pie, Energy Plaza and Fountain Place skyscrapers.  To get the design done is like slicing all parts out for the final shape.

The remainder of the large block area has been marked for several development proposals in the past, but none were built. Originally known as One Dallas Centre was to be part of a multi-building complex that called for Two Dallas Centre a 50-story V-shape office tower and a high-rise hotel across Harwood St.  Later it was changed to a 52-story tower that actually appeared like two hexagon shape towers that connected. But most stylish was the 60-story RepublicBank Center proposal in 1985. Today this prime property adjacent to Patriot Tower remains a huge parking lot.
