JPMorgan Chase Tower

Architect:  Skidmore, Owings & Merrill

The 55-story JPMorgan Chase Tower is located in the Northeast sector of downtown in the Arts District area, it has curves and unusual angles’ one obviously, is the large hole, "Sky Window" it soars 75 ft. from the 44th through the 49th floor and is 27 ft. wide. The other includes the "Sky Lobby" which is on the 40th floor and is four stories high which means it is just under the Sky Window.

The exterior is polished flamed granite with gray glass windows.   The tower is accented by a narrow row of bay-like windows along the center of each of the four facades and the corners of the tower are indented. The tower tapers at the top with mostly all glass that include indented areas and capped by a curved rooftop featuring a slit in the center.  One of the most unusual features other than the sky window that a visitor will not take note is that the tower has hardly any square cuts.

The tower is set back from a 1.2-acre landscaped plaza that includes a reflecting pool, fountains and a rotunda, a multi level dome building which gives it an amphitheater effect. The set back location of the tower allows plenty of distance from the historic Cathedral Santuario De Guadalupe Catholic Church across Ross Ave.
